Cited answers: how Constella shows its sources for client work
consultantworkflows
A closer look at citation-backed answers, why they matter when you advise clients, and how to check them quickly.
When you advise clients, an answer you cannot trace is a liability. Cited answers let you check where a claim came from before it reaches a client.
What a cited answer looks like
Ask what you agreed on the kickoff call and the response lists specifics, such as three priorities, margin by product line, a new mid-tier price, and a board deck due date. Each point links to the source it came from.
Why it matters
- You can verify before quoting
- You can spot where notes conflict
- You can show a client exactly where something was said
Where sources come from
Sources are what you capture: web pages, PDFs, decks, Drive files, and call or voice notes. The knowledge graph connects them so answers can draw on several at once, and reasoning search helps surface patterns across them.
A quick way to check an answer
- Read the answer
- Open the linked source for any figure or date
- Confirm the wording matches before sending anything
Limits to keep in mind
An answer is only as good as what has been captured. If a call was never noted, it will not appear. Human review stays part of the process.
